Anna grew up in a family of eight, with three brothers and two
sisters. She is the third oldest and right smack in the
middle! She comes from a family of swimmers and started
swimming when she was four years old on a cabana team and continued
swimming for fourteen years swimming year round on Valley Splash.
Growing up her best events were the 50 and 100 freestyle.
Throughout high school she swam on the Christopher High School swim
team and went to CCS both Sophomore and Junior year. she
is currently attending Gavilan College to complete her first
two years. She plan to transfer to San Jose State to complete and
major in Journalism and Mass Communications in hopes to become an
event planner, or more specifically a wedding planner. Her main
focus is in ministry, or more specifically becoming a Youth Pastor.
She currently works in San Jose at GateWay City Church as the Youth
Assistant for the Youth Pastor Albert Castaneda. She plans to
continue on to a Bible college or a ministry school within the next
five years.
Her hobbies are playing the violin, singing, reading, cooking,
going to the beach, and being with family. She believes that
swimming can be a team sport and is in some ways, but overall the
sport is very individual. She has realized in the last fourteen
years, when she saw her races in ways of who she beat or what color
her ribbon was she became frustrated and sometimes lost motivation.
Swimming is a very competitive sport, and once she began to see the
importance of setting goals, and beating your personal times, the
motivation to do so came a lot easier. Swimming, just like any
other sport takes physical, mental, and heart effort to be what you
want! It is such an amazing experience to work with young people by
helping teach and guide them with the main principles of swimming.
As a recent swimmer within the last year, Anna is able to
relate with their frustrations, concerns, goals, and best of all
their accomplishments! Her goal for this year is to help be a
support, teacher, encourager, and a friend to all the swimmers on
the team.
